Handy Travel Tips.

Because I am sooo green when it comes to overseas travel, having never even crossed the equator, I have spoken to lots of people who are far more worldly than me, and have compiled a little list of their favourite travel tips.
  • Take some old clothes, buy some new ones when you get there, and leave the old ones behind. (Not sure I can do this. I become emotionally attached to my clothes - they can all tell little stories)
  • Buy packets of cheap undies and discard as you go. ( wonder what the motel cleaners would think - too bad I guess, you'll never see them again)
  • Check your account balances on your credit card at the airport on leaving and arriving. It gives the bank an indication that you are travelling overseas.
  • Scan passports, drivers license and cards and email them to yourself.
  • Eat at self service places and delis to save 15% gratuities.
  • Driving in the USA, check out http://www.justlanded.com/english/USA/Articles/Travel-Leisure/General-Road-Rules
  • And remember, righty tighty, left is long when driving on the other side of the road.
  • If taking your phone, check that it is unlocked and buy a prepaid SIM card from someone like T mobile.
  •  Make sure everyone in the party has the same so you get free calls and txt between you.
  • Julie has booked an aisle seat and window seat for her and Will, and they are hoping that no one will want the middle seat.
  • (Sounds risky to me)
  • If you want to go toAlcatraz, book ahead. (So we did, but it looks unlikely that we can go, with  the shutdown.)
I've forgotten everything else. I heard a great tip last night, and knowing how my memory is, I jotted
it down, but I only had eyeliner pencil and it was dark, so this morning when I looked it up it was totally
indecipherable. ... Two bottles? Live boils? Note to self, pack a pen.

Chargers, flight socks, camera, mask...I think I have everything.
